Am I a fool? - Thoughts on the quality compensation incurred due to a new customer order

When a restaurant chain owner asks, "Where can I find a reliable wholesale supplier for melamine tableware?" the first thing that usually comes to mind is price, quality, or lead time. However, after a recent experience with a new customer from the Netherlands, I realized that the most critical factor in building a long-term partnership is not just the product itself, but the integrity behind it.

To be honest, after this deduction, we actually incurred a loss on this specific order. Some might ask, "Am I a fool?" or "Why take a loss for a mistake you didn't directly make?"

I don't think so. I believe that keeping promises is what a true business person should do. If we want customers to source their wholesale melamine tableware from us with peace of mind, we must stand behind our service 100%. Taking a financial hit on one order is painful, but losing a customer's trust is far more expensive. We felt proud of our decision because we chose integrity over short-term profit.

That single decision changed everything. Since that incident, the trust between us and this Dutch client has grown immensely.
